About Alstom
Alstom SA is a French multinational rail transport manufacturer headquartered in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, France. Formed in 1928 as Alsthom through the merger of the electric engineering division of Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques (Als) and Compagnie Française Thomson-Houston (thom), Alstom builds high-speed, suburban, regional, and urban trains along with trams, signalling, and rail services. It delivered its first TGV to SNCF in 1978, and in 2007 a TGV set the world rail speed record at 574.8 km/h.
Alstom Logo Meaning and History
The Alstom name is a portmanteau of its two founding companies — Als and thom — and the logo presents it as a clean, confident lowercase wordmark. The understated blue identity suits an industrial giant whose trains, from the TGV to modern metros, carry millions of passengers daily across the globe.
Evolution of the Alstom Logo
