Airbnb is a global online marketplace for lodging and travel experiences, founded in 2008 in San Francisco by Brian Chesky, Joe Gebbia, and Nathan Blecharczyk. It began as Airbedandbreakfast.com, renting out air mattresses in the founders’ apartment during a design conference. Today it ranks among the world’s largest short-term rental platforms, with millions of hosts in nearly every country, built around the mission that anyone can belong anywhere — an idea that directly shaped its famous logo.
Airbnb’s current logo is called the Bélo, introduced in July 2014 after a year-long redesign with the London agency DesignStudio. The continuous-line symbol fuses four concepts into one loop: a person with raised arms, a location pin, a heart, and the letter “A.” It was deliberately designed to be simple enough for anyone to draw by hand, signaling that Airbnb is about belonging and community rather than mere accommodation. The mark is paired with a lowercase “airbnb” wordmark in a rounded, friendly sans-serif and rendered in a signature coral-pink shade called Rausch.
The brand’s defining color is Rausch (#FF5A5F), a vivid coral pink, supported by Babu (#00A699) teal, Arches (#FC642D) orange, Hof (#484848) dark gray, and Foggy (#767676) gray. The lowercase wordmark uses a customized rounded sans-serif that later became the proprietary Airbnb Cereal typeface.
