About ACDelco
ACDelco is an American automotive parts brand owned by General Motors, supplying factory and aftermarket parts for GM vehicles as well as non-GM cars. Its forerunner, the United Motors Corporation, was formed on May 11, 1916, by GM founder William C. “Billy” Durant as a components holding company, gathering names like Dayton Engineering Laboratories (DELCO), Remy Electric, and AC Spark Plug. GM acquired the business in 1918. Over its history the brand has been known as United Motors Service and United Delco, and it celebrated its 100th birthday in 2016. Today ACDelco’s catalog covers over 90,000 parts across 37 product lines, from parts that flew with Charles Lindbergh to components on Apollo missions.
ACDelco Logo Meaning and History
The ACDelco logo is a bold, italicized “ACDelco” wordmark — the slanted lettering conveying speed, performance, and forward motion, fitting for an automotive brand. In the brand’s signature blue and white, the mark carries a century of General Motors engineering trust. “AC” honors the AC Spark Plug division and “Delco” the Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company, uniting two legendary parts lineages in one name.
