About Nexus

Nexus was Google’s line of flagship Android smartphones and tablets, produced from 2010 to 2016. Google designed the devices and partnered with manufacturers — HTC, Samsung, LG, Huawei, Motorola and Asus — to build them. Starting with the Nexus One in early 2010, the program showcased the purest, latest Android exactly as Google envisioned it. Standouts included the Galaxy Nexus (2011), Nexus 4 (2012) and Nexus 5 (2013) with LG, Nexus 6 (2014) with Motorola, Nexus 5X and 6P (2015), and the Nexus 7 and 10 tablets. The name is reportedly a nod to the Nexus-6 replicants of Philip K. Dick’s ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’ and Blade Runner. In 2016 Google retired the Nexus brand in favor of its own Pixel phones.
