Namco was a Japanese video game company founded by Masaya Nakamura in 1955, originally a maker of amusement rides. It created Pac-Man, released in arcades in 1980 by designer Toru Iwatani — one of the highest-grossing video games of all time.
Other Namco classics include Galaga, Dig Dug, Pole Position and Tekken; it merged with Bandai in 2005 to form Bandai Namco.
