About TiVo Corporation

TiVo Corporation was an American entertainment-technology company headquartered in San Jose, California. Its roots trace to TiVo Inc., founded on August 4, 1997 by Jim Barton and Mike Ramsay, whose digital video recorder pioneered pausing live TV and the “season pass.” In September 2016, Rovi Corporation acquired TiVo Inc. for $1.1 billion and renamed itself TiVo Corporation. In December 2019 the company agreed to merge with Xperi; the merger completed in June 2020 and the combined firm operates as Xperi.

TiVo Corporation Logo Meaning and History

The TiVo identity is built around the playful “TiVo” wordmark and its TV-headed mascot — a friendly face for a box that changed how television was watched. The name itself is a coined, snappy brand word, and the mascot’s bouncing antenna embodied the fun of time-shifted TV in an era of rigid broadcast schedules.
