Introduction
A looping purple signature with a red heart for the dot of an “i” — the Petfinder logo in this download is the current identity of North America’s largest pet adoption website.
Brand Overview
Petfinder is an American online pet adoption platform founded in 1996. Now owned by Nestlé Purina PetCare, it lists more than 315,000 adoptable pets from nearly 14,000 animal shelters and rescue groups across North America, and has facilitated tens of millions of adoptions. Its official website is petfinder.com.
History of the Petfinder Logo
Petfinder began in 1996 as one of the web’s first adoption databases, when a shelter listing meant a text page and a prayer. The current identity — a handwritten purple script with the heart drawn into the word itself, and a modest “Powered by Purina” endorsement beneath — reflects its life inside the Nestlé Purina family while keeping the homemade warmth of the original idea.
Meaning of the Logo
- The handwriting: A script instead of a typeface: every adoption starts as a personal story, and the logo signs it like one.
- The heart: The dot of the “i” is a small red heart — love placed precisely where the finder stands in “Petfinder”.
- Petfinder purple: The deep purple separates Petfinder from the retail reds and blues of pet commerce: this site is about rescue, not shopping.
Petfinder Logo Colors
| Color | Hex Code | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Petfinder Purple | #6504B5 | The script wordmark (the logo file’s own fill value) |
| Heart Red | #C22A22 | The heart over the “i”, shared with the Purina checkerboard |
| Gray | #555557 | The “Powered by” line |
Purple, red and gray are the lockup’s colours (the Purina badge adds its own black and white), and the space around the lockup in this download is fully transparent.
Conclusion
Petfinder’s logo signs its work in purple ink and dots the i with a heart — the whole mission of shelter adoption in one handwritten word.
