The Nvidia logo is a stylized eye, a visual metaphor for a company that “sees” everything. The swirling green-and-black mark was chosen in 1993 to symbolize a constant search for innovation and a vision of the future. Its distinctive spiral resembles a human eye in motion, suggesting speed, perception, and technological foresight. The name itself is a blend of “n,” used as a mathematical variable, and the Latin word for “to see,” which ties the wordmark directly to the eye motif.

Evolution

• 1993: The original logo debuts with a two-part eye symbol — one half black, one half white — topped by a green square, alongside a wordmark with a distinctive italic lowercase “n.”
• 2006: A major redesign removes the black from the eye, boldens the wordmark into custom all-caps lettering, and drops the italic “n” for a stronger, cleaner capital form.
• 2022: The company introduces NVIDIA Sans, a custom corporate typeface developed with Dalton Maag, replacing the earlier GeForce-based corporate font.
