About the MetLife Logo
Introduction
Two overlapping shapes — one blue, one green — lean together to form the letter M beside a dark, confident wordmark. The MetLife logo of today is a diagram of partnership, drawn by the insurer that once let a cartoon beagle speak for it.
Brand Overview
MetLife (Metropolitan Life Insurance Company) is one of the world’s largest insurance and employee-benefits companies, founded in New York in 1868 and headquartered in the landmark MetLife Building on Park Avenue. It serves tens of millions of customers in more than 40 markets with life insurance, annuities, and workplace benefits. In 2017 it spun off its US retail business as Brighthouse Financial, focusing the MetLife brand on benefits and global markets. Its official website is metlife.com.
History of the MetLife Logo
For three decades MetLife’s public face was Snoopy and the Peanuts gang, licensed in 1985. In October 2016 the company retired the beagle and unveiled the identity in this download: an abstract “M” built from two overlapping forms — one in MetLife blue, one in a fresh green — beside the name in a near-black wordmark. The redesign, launched with the line “Navigating life together”, recast MetLife from cartoon nostalgia to a modern, partnership-led brand.
Meaning of the Logo
- The overlapping M: Two shapes leaning into each other — the customer and the company, side by side; where they overlap, a deeper blue marks what they build together.
- Blue and green: Trust in blue, growth and vitality in green — insurance’s caution and life’s optimism in a single letter.
- The plain wordmark: The name set straight, in near-black — after 30 years of cartoon, the brand finally speaks in its own voice.
MetLife Logo Colors

| MetLife Green | #99D538 | The right half of the M symbol (the logo file’s own fill value) |
| Deep Blue | #1563A9 | The overlap of the two shapes (the logo file’s own fill value) |
| Black | #231F20 | The wordmark (the logo file’s own fill value) |
All four values are the artwork’s own fills: two bright shapes, their darker meeting point, and the near-black name.
Conclusion
MetLife traded a cartoon dog for pure geometry — and its logo now says in one letter what its slogan says in three words: together.
