About IONITY
IONITY is Europe’s leading high-power charging network for electric vehicles, building and operating fast-charging stations along Europe’s highways to make long-distance electric travel the new normal. Founded in 2017 as a joint venture of BMW Group, Mercedes-Benz Group, Ford, and the Volkswagen Group (with Audi and Porsche); Hyundai Motor Group joined in November 2020. The network uses the CCS charging standard with charging capacity of up to 350 kW, powered by 100% renewable energy. Headquartered in Munich, IONITY now operates more than 1,500 charging points across 24 European countries.

The IONITY name itself evokes electricity — “ion,” the electrically charged particle at the heart of battery power. - 2020: Hyundai Motor Group joins as the fifth shareholder; the network grows to more than 400 stations along major European highways.
- 2021: A combined €700 million investment is announced to grow the network to 7,000 charging points, with sites across motorways, cities, and trunk roads in 24 countries.
