Inter Miami Logo: History, Meaning and Colors
Introduction
The Inter Miami logo — two white herons standing back to back inside a pink-and-black circular badge — arrived in Major League Soccer like a fashion statement. Within a few seasons, Lionel Messi’s arrival turned it into one of the most recognized crests in world football, its pastel pink instantly spotting a Herons shirt anywhere on the planet.
If you are searching for the Inter Miami logo, you are looking for the official crest of Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami, the MLS club co-owned by David Beckham that began play in 2020. This article traces the history of the Inter Miami badge, explains the symbolism of the herons and the eclipse, and breaks down the club’s official colors.
Inter Miami Brand Overview
Inter Miami CF was announced in 2018, when David Beckham’s ownership group was awarded MLS’s 25th franchise, and it kicked off its inaugural season in 2020. The club plays in Major League Soccer and is building its permanent home, Miami Freedom Park.
The club’s trajectory changed forever in 2023 with the signing of Lionel Messi, joined by former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. That summer, Inter Miami won its first trophy — the Leagues Cup — and the pink shirt became a global phenomenon, selling out across continents. The club won the MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2024 and the MLS Cup in 2025.
History of the Inter Miami Logo
The crest was unveiled on September 5, 2018, alongside the club’s name, and was designed by New York studio Doubleday & Cartwright in an Art Deco-inspired style that echoes Miami’s famous Ocean Drive architecture. The badge has remained unchanged since launch — a rare stability for such a young club — with only minor additions like the silver star added after the 2025 MLS Cup triumph.
Its pink-and-black palette was a deliberate break from MLS convention: at launch, no other major North American sports team owned pink as a primary color, giving Inter Miami an instantly ownable visual identity.
Inter Miami Logo Meaning: What Does the Crest Symbolize?
The badge is packed with Miami-specific symbolism:
- The two herons: Great white herons are native to South Florida. Standing back to back, their interlocking legs form the letter “M” for Miami. Per the club, they symbolize power, protection, and patience.
- The eclipse and seven rays: The black eclipse with seven triangular sun rays sits between the herons — the rays honor David Beckham’s iconic number 7 and the seven seas and continents that bring people to Miami.
- “MIAMI”: The city name anchors the badge’s center in bold serif capitals.
- “CLUB INTERNACIONAL DE FÚTBOL MIAMI”: The full name rings the badge, reflecting the city’s international, multicultural identity.
- “MMXX”: The Roman numerals mark 2020, the club’s inaugural MLS season.
Inter Miami Logo Colors
Inter Miami’s palette — pink, black, and white — was essentially unclaimed in North American major league sports when the club launched, and it remains its most distinctive asset.
| Color | Hex Code | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Miami Pink | #F6B4CD | Signature — crest circle and home kits |
| Club Black | #000100 | Crest ring, heron detailing, away kits |
| White | #FFFFFF | Herons, lettering, and contrast |
The pink is the star: inspired by Miami’s Art Deco pastels, it made Inter Miami’s shirts instantly recognizable worldwide — and arguably the most fashionable kit in MLS history.
Conclusion
The Inter Miami logo proves a young club can build an iconic identity fast: two herons, an eclipse, and a fearless shade of pink were all it took. From a 2018 unveiling to the Messi era and an MLS Cup, the crest has grown from a design-studio concept into a global symbol of Miami football.
