About the H-E-B Logo Logo
Introduction
Three white initials in a red badge shaped like a price tag — the H-E-B logo in this download is the current identity of Texas’s beloved grocery giant.
Brand Overview
H-E-B is an American supermarket chain founded in 1905 in Kerrville, Texas, by Florence Butt, who opened a one-room grocery with a $60 loan; her son Howard Edward Butt — the H.E.B. of the name — built it into a Texas institution. Headquartered in San Antonio, H-E-B runs more than 400 stores in Texas and Mexico and inspires a loyalty most brands can only envy. Its official website is heb.com.
History of the H-E-B Logo
The initials were set in badges of various shapes through the 20th century before the company settled on the current red rounded slab — part price tag, part highway sign — with the three initials in heavy white type. The mark has been refined but never reinvented: in Texas the red badge is so familiar that H-E-B built an entire own-brand empire under its shelter. The version in this download is the badge on H-E-B stores today.
Meaning of the Logo
- The initials: A founder’s son signed every store with his own name — Howard Edward Butt, abbreviated the Texan way.
- The red badge: The rounded slab is drawn like a shelf-edge price ticket, the most honest shape in a grocery store.
- White on red: Maximum-contrast roadside colours: the badge is designed to be read at driving speed on a Texas highway.
H-E-B Logo Colors
| Color | Hex Code | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| H-E-B Red | #EE2824 | The badge field (the logo file’s own fill value) |
| White | #FFFFFF | The H-E-B initials |
The red badge is part of the logo itself — a self-contained sign — so the artwork in this download is the complete badge with no extra background added.
Conclusion
H-E-B’s logo is a price tag with a person’s name on it: three initials, one red badge, and 120 years of Texas in a single slab.
