About Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks — the “D-backs” — are a Major League Baseball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. The franchise was awarded on March 9, 1995, and began play in 1998 at Chase Field. In 2001, only their fourth season, they defeated the New York Yankees to become the fastest expansion team in MLB history to win a World Series. They returned to the Fall Classic in 2023, winning their second National League pennant.

Arizona Diamondbacks Logo Meaning and History

The primary logo is an italic block “A” carrying a diamond pattern, with the crossbar formed by a snake’s tongue — a nod to the diamondback rattlesnake. The alternate “D-snake” mark shapes the letters “d” and “b” into a snake’s head. Together the marks blend Arizona desert identity with classic baseball lettering.
