Aquarius is a sports and energy drink brand owned by The Coca-Cola Company, specializing in mineral-enriched beverages that help maintain the body’s water balance. The brand was established in 1978, and the first sports drink under the name launched in 1983 in Japan with a grapefruit flavor — developed partly to maintain Coca-Cola’s position after Otsuka Pharmaceutical introduced Pocari Sweat in 1980. Aquarius expanded to Spain and Portugal in 1991, and today its beverages are sold in various flavors enriched with essential minerals like zinc and magnesium and vitamin E, with later launches in China in 2014, Thailand in 2015, and the United Kingdom in 2019 as a low-calorie mineral drink.
