The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) is a Frederick, Maryland-based American nonprofit organization that advocates for general aviation. Its membership consists mainly of general aviation pilots in the United States, and it is the largest aviation association in the world. AOPA’s roots lie in the Philadelphia Aviation Country Club founded in 1932 at Wings Field in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania; the association was incorporated on May 15, 1939, with Charles Townsend Ludington serving as its first president. It exists to serve the interests of its members as aircraft owners and pilots and to promote the economy, safety, utility, and popularity of flight in general aviation aircraft, running programs such as the AOPA Foundation, the Air Safety Institute, and the You Can Fly initiative.
The AOPA acronym has represented the voice of American private pilots for more than 85 years. The bold blue wordmark — often paired with red accents — appears on everything from the association’s headquarters and publications to the wings of its sweepstakes aircraft, symbolizing a community built around the freedom of flight.
The AOPA logo pairs a strong navy blue with red and white accents, echoing American aviation heritage. The sturdy sans-serif lettering conveys reliability and pride. Whether you need an aopa logo png with a transparent background or an aopa logo svg vector for aviation articles and event materials, the flat artwork reproduces crisply in any medium.
