About AMSOIL

AMSOIL Inc. is an American synthetic-lubricant company based in Superior, Wisconsin. It was founded on May 23, 1969 — as Life-Lube, Inc. — by former fighter pilot Albert J. Amatuzio, who applied jet-engine synthetic-oil technology to automotive engines. In 1972, AMSOIL 10W-40 became the world’s first synthetic motor oil to meet American Petroleum Institute service requirements, inspiring the company’s tagline “The First in Synthetics.” Its products are sold across North America through a network of independent dealers.

AMSOIL Logo Meaning and History

The bold, italicized AMSOIL wordmark suggests speed and high performance — fitting for a brand built on motorsport and demanding engines. The name itself blends the founder’s initials “AM” with “zoil” (from oil), and the tagline “The First in Synthetics” proudly references the 1972 industry milestone.
