American Airlines, Inc. is a major airline in the United States headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. Established in 1930 through the union of more than eighty small airlines and commencing operations in June 1936, it is the largest airline in the world in terms of passengers carried and daily flights. A founding member of the Oneworld alliance, American operates nearly 6,800 flights per day to close to 350 destinations, anchored by its Dallas/Fort Worth hub, and merged with US Airways in 2013.
The current American Airlines logo, the “Flight Symbol,” is a stylized eagle rendered in red, white, and blue — an abstract mark of motion and American pride introduced with the 2013 rebrand. It replaced the beloved 1967 “AA” eagle logo designed by Massimo Vignelli, which had represented the airline for 46 years. Both marks draw on the eagle as a symbol of flight and national identity.
The American Airlines logo uses the patriotic trio of red, white, and blue, with the Flight Symbol’s sweeping lines suggesting speed and altitude. The wordmark is set in a clean, modern sans-serif. Whether you need an american airlines logo png with a transparent background or an american airlines logo svg vector for crisp scaling, the flat red-and-blue artwork stays sharp at any size.
