About AOL
AOL — originally America Online — is the American web portal and internet service provider that brought millions of people online in the 1990s. The company began in 1983 as Control Video Corporation, became Quantum Computer Services in 1985, and was renamed America Online in 1989. Through the 1990s its dial-up service and free-trial CD carpet-bombing made it America’s dominant ISP — at one point, half of all CDs produced worldwide carried an AOL logo. The full name was officially retired on April 3, 2006, when the service became AOL (a Time Warner subdivision named AOL LLC), and AOL was spun off from Time Warner in December 2009.
AOL Logo Meaning and History
The identity moved from the “America Online” triangle mark to the three-letter acronym as dial-up faded. The 2009 rebrand by Wolff Olins introduced the lowercase “Aol.” — period included — as, in the company’s words, a “simple, confident logotype, revealed by ever-changing images,” letting the wordmark sit over constantly changing photography instead of a fixed symbol.

AOL Logo Colors and Font
Classic AOL identities centered on a bold blue wordmark — the 1996 Futura Extra Bold version is the most remembered, while the 2009 “Aol.” mark floats over ever-changing imagery. Whether you need an aol logo png with a transparent background or an aol logo svg vector for crisp scaling, the simple letterforms stay legible at any size.
