About Activision Blizzard

Activision Blizzard is an American video game holding company headquartered in Santa Monica, California. It was formed in July 2008 through the merger of Activision — founded in 1979 by former Atari programmers as the first independent video game developer — and Vivendi Games, the parent of Blizzard Entertainment. The company owns blockbuster franchises including Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, and Candy Crush. On October 13, 2023, Microsoft completed its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, folding it into Microsoft Gaming alongside Xbox.

Activision Blizzard Logo Meaning and History

The corporate logo unites the two merged companies in a single bold wordmark: “Activision” in red and “Blizzard” in blue, reflecting each brand’s historic identity. The design signals that both labels continue to operate as separate creative units under one holding company, rather than dissolving into a single studio.
