About Acronis
Acronis International GmbH is a Swiss technology company specializing in cybersecurity and data protection software, founded in 2003 in Singapore by Serg Bell as a spin-off from SWsoft (later Parallels). Incorporated in Switzerland in 2008 and headquartered in Schaffhausen, it serves managed service providers, small and mid-sized businesses and enterprise IT with backup, disaster recovery, endpoint management and cybersecurity products. Its flagship Acronis True Image pioneered consumer backup with anti-ransomware protection, and the company now protects some 750,000 businesses through more than 20,000 service providers. In 2025, Swedish private equity firm EQT acquired a majority stake in Acronis.
Acronis Logo Meaning and History
The Acronis name and its dynamic red swoosh mark convey speed, motion and protection — a shield in motion for the data-protection era. The brand grew from disk imaging (True Image) to full cyber protection, and its identity evolved with it: from a backup utility to a cybersecurity platform. The red, energetic branding reflects the company’s positioning as an active defender against ransomware and data loss rather than a passive storage vendor.
