Acer Inc. is a Taiwanese multinational electronics company headquartered in New Taipei City, Taiwan, founded on 1 August 1976 by Stan Shih, his wife Carolyn Yeh, and five partners. It began life as Multitech Electronics Inc. and is now the world’s sixth-largest personal computer vendor by unit sales, known for Aspire and Swift laptops, Predator gaming gear, displays and servers.
The Acer logo meaning lies in the company’s name itself — ‘acer’ comes from the Latin word for ‘sharp’ or ‘keen,’ a nod to precision and competitive agility. The rounded, lowercase wordmark was designed to feel approachable and dynamic, reflecting a brand built for everyday consumers rather than corporate boardrooms. Anyone tracing Acer logo history will notice the journey from the technical Multitech era to the friendly, energetic identity the brand carries today.
The current Acer logo is set in the brand’s signature green, widely documented as #83B81A, usually shown on a white background or reversed in white. The mark uses a custom rounded lowercase typeface with no separate symbol — the friendly lettering is the logo.
