About Accord Networks
Accord Networks was an Israeli networking company that made next-generation rich-media network products for voice and video communications over IP and other networks. Based in Petah Tikva, Israel, with principal executive offices in Atlanta, Georgia, it traded on NASDAQ under the ticker ACCD. Its flagship products, the MGC-100 and MGC-50 multipoint control units, set the standard for carrier-grade multipoint video conferencing, letting 3, 5, 10, 20 or more locations join a single call.
Accord Networks Logo Meaning and History
The Accord Networks brand reflected its mission to bring people into “accord” — agreement and harmony — through seamless visual communication. Its identity was that of a serious infrastructure provider in the early broadband era, when video conferencing was moving from circuit-switched ISDN networks to packet-based IP. The company’s branding emphasized advanced video and voice processing and “any-to-any” network connectivity, the transcoding technology that let endpoints with different bandwidths and standards talk to each other.
Evolution of the Accord Networks Logo
- 1990s: The company develops the MGC-100, its first multipoint conferencing system, for the circuit-switched conferencing market.
- 2000: Accord Networks Ltd. lists on NASDAQ under the ticker ACCD and expands into gateways and network management.
- 2000: The MGC-50 and gateway products extend the line toward IP and broadband networks.
- 2000: Polycom announces the acquisition of Accord for approximately $339 million in stock in December.
- 2001: The acquisition closes on February 28; Accord is integrated into Polycom, with chairman and CEO Jules DeVigne becoming a Polycom senior vice president.
