ABC — the American Broadcasting Company — is one of the traditional “Big Three” American television networks alongside CBS and NBC. It was founded as a radio network in 1943 as the successor to the NBC Blue Network, bought by Edward J. Noble after an FCC divestiture order.. ABC launched television on April 19, 1948. It merged with United Paramount Theatres in 1953, was acquired by Capital Cities in 1986, and has been owned by The Walt Disney Company since Disney’s 1996 purchase of Capital Cities/ABC. With hit shows, national news, and major sports broadcasts, ABC has been a cornerstone of American broadcasting for over 75 years.
ABC’s identity is the “ABC Circle,” designed by graphic designer Paul Rand in 1962: the lowercase letters “abc” inside a single solid black circle. Its Bauhaus geometry made it easy to reproduce. The lowercase treatment feels modern and approachable, while the circle suggests a lens, a globe, and the completeness of a full-service network.
The classic ABC Circle is black and white: white lowercase letters inside a solid black circle, in a custom Bauhaus-inspired geometric typeface. A historic color version used red, blue, and green letters Whether you need an abc logo png with a transparent background or an abc logo svg vector, the flat circular artwork stays recognizable at any size.
