Aaton is a French manufacturer of professional cinema cameras, founded in 1971 by engineer Jean-Pierre Beauviala in Grenoble, France. The company became legendary among filmmakers for its quiet, lightweight 16mm and 35mm cameras — including the LTR, XTR, and Penelope models — which were favored for documentary and independent filmmaking. Aaton was also an early innovator in digital cinema, developing the AatonCode timecode system and later the Delta digital camera. The brand holds a cult status among cinematographers for its precision engineering and filmmaker-friendly design philosophy. The company’s AatonCode timecode, developed in the 1970s, became an industry standard for synchronizing sound and picture.
The Aaton logo is a refined mark befitting a precision instrument maker. Cinema equipment brands typically favor understated, technical identities, and Aaton’s wordmark follows this tradition with clean, confident lettering that speaks of French engineering excellence. The design avoids decoration in favor of clarity — much like the cameras themselves, which were celebrated for elegant, functional design. The Aaton logo png and logo svg files available here are an ideal free download for film industry presentations, cinematography histories, and editorial content about camera technology and French industrial design. The understated design mirrors the company’s cameras themselves — elegant, functional, and free of decoration.
