About Acorn Computers
Acorn Computers was a pioneering British computer company founded in Cambridge, England, in 1978. Its BBC Micro dominated UK school computing in the 1980s, and its engineers designed the ARM processor architecture — spun off as Arm Holdings — which went on to power the vast majority of the world’s smartphones. Sometimes called the “British Apple”, Acorn was broken up in the late 1990s.
