Airbus Industrie was the original name of the European aerospace consortium that later became simply Airbus. Founded in 1970 as a Groupement d’Intérêt Économique (GIE), it brought together France’s Aérospatiale, Germany’s Deutsche Airbus, Spain’s CASA, and later Britain’s British Aerospace to build a European rival to American manufacturers like Boeing and McDonnell Douglas. Headquartered in Toulouse, France, the company produced the A300 — the world’s first twin-engine wide-body airliner, which flew for the first time in 1972. Airbus Industrie grew rapidly through the 1970s and 1980s with the A310, A320, and A330/A340 families, and was reorganized as Airbus SAS in 2000.
The Airbus Industrie logo was the corporate identity of the European consortium during its first three decades. Early versions combined bold, technical lettering with stylized elements that evoked flight, precision engineering, and the multinational character of the partnership. The wordmark typically appeared in strong sans-serif capitals, conveying industrial authority and aerospace reliability. Designers looking for the Airbus Industrie logo png or logo svg versions will find this mark a popular reference for aviation history, airline liveries, and engineering presentations. The classic Airbus Industrie logo remains instantly recognizable to aviation enthusiasts and is a sought-after free download for educational and editorial projects about commercial aviation history.
