About ActewAGL

ActewAGL is an Australian multi-utility company providing electricity and natural gas services in the Australian Capital Territory and south-east New South Wales. It was formed in October 2000 as a joint venture between the Australian Gas Light Company (now AGL Energy) and ACTEW Corporation (now Icon Water). Today it operates as two partnerships — ActewAGL Retail, owned by Icon Water and AGL Energy, and ActewAGL Distribution, owned by Icon Water and Jemena — with the network business rebranded as Evoenergy in 2018. The company has been a pioneer in green energy programs, from its Greenchoice renewable plan to a world-first vehicle-to-grid electric vehicle trial.

ActewAGL Logo Meaning and History

The ActewAGL name is a direct fusion of its two founders — ACTEW, the ACT’s electricity and water authority, and AGL, the Australian Gas Light Company. The combined wordmark symbolizes the merger of Canberra’s public utility heritage with one of Australia’s oldest energy companies. Its branding carries the trust of an essential-services provider to the national capital region, serving homes and businesses across Canberra and its surrounds.
