About Ask

Ask.com — originally Ask Jeeves — was an American search engine founded in 1996 by Garrett Gruener and David Warthen in Berkeley, California. It stood out by letting users type full questions in natural language instead of keywords, answered by a cartoon butler mascot named Jeeves, inspired by P. G. Wodehouse’s famous valet. It went public during the dot-com boom, was acquired by IAC/InterActiveCorp in 2005 for $1.85 billion, and rebranded as Ask.com in 2006, retiring Jeeves. After losing ground to Google, it pivoted to Q&A content, and IAC shut the search business down on May 1, 2026, ending nearly 30 years online.

Ask Logo Meaning and History

The original Ask Jeeves logo featured the friendly butler Jeeves himself — a top-hatted cartoon embodying the promise that you could simply ask and receive an answer. The 2006 Ask.com rebrand dropped the mascot for a clean, modern wordmark with a curved swoosh, signaling a streamlined search engine competing directly with Google and Yahoo.

Ask Logo Colors and Font

The classic Ask.com identity uses a deep red wordmark with a dynamic curved accent, set in a rounded, approachable sans-serif. Whether you need an ask logo png with a transparent background or an ask logo svg vector for crisp scaling, the simple wordmark stays sharp at any size.
