About Aladdin Knowledge Systems
Aladdin Knowledge Systems was an Israeli software company specializing in digital rights management and internet security, founded in 1985 by Jacob “Yanki” Margalit. Its flagship HASP product line — Hardware Against Software Piracy — became a global standard for software licensing, holding around 40% of the world market and used by more than 30,000 software publishers. The company held its initial public offering on NASDAQ in 1993, expanded into USB authentication tokens (eToken) and network security (eSafe), and in March 2009 was acquired by Vector Capital, which merged it with SafeNet — a combination completed in April 2010.
Aladdin Knowledge Systems Logo Meaning and History
The Aladdin logo pairs the name — a nod to the Arabian Nights tale of the magic lamp — with a bold white serif wordmark set on a deep red bar. The registered-trademark symbol underscores the brand’s corporate software identity, and the classical letterforms give the security company an air of established authority.
