Acer Logo Meaning and History

The Acer logo meaning lies in the company’s name itself — ‘acer’ comes from the Latin word for ‘sharp’ or ‘keen,’ a nod to precision and competitive agility. The rounded, lowercase wordmark was designed to feel approachable and dynamic, reflecting a brand built for everyday consumers rather than corporate boardrooms. Anyone tracing Acer logo history will notice the journey from the technical Multitech era to the friendly, energetic identity the brand carries today.

Evolution of the Acer Logo

• 1976: The company is founded as Multitech Electronics Inc. in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
• 1987: Multitech is renamed Acer; the new logo pairs a red-and-blue wordmark with a diamond emblem and capitalized A and R.
• 2001: On March 8, a new logo designed by Landor Associates drops the diamond in favor of a sleek, rounded lowercase wordmark.
• 2011: The wordmark is refined into the modern green identity still in use today.

Acer Logo Colors and Font

The current Acer logo is set in the brand’s signature green, widely documented as #83B81A, usually shown on a white background or reversed in white. The mark uses a custom rounded lowercase typeface with no separate symbol — the friendly lettering is the logo.
