He initially intended to leave the team in Philadelphia, but a league manager recommended that he move to Miami instead. Joseph Robbie became the team’s sole manager until the 1990s when Wayne Huizenga bought part of the shares.

2009 Stephen M. Ross became the team manager after purchasing 95% of the shares. The team name was chosen by the competition when it was first created.
