About Amalie

Amalie Oil Company is an American manufacturer of motor oil, synthetic oil, transmission fluid, and other automotive fluids, headquartered in Tampa, Florida. Founded in 1903 in Franklin, Pennsylvania, as one of the original “Pennsylvania Crude” oil companies, Amalie is today North America’s largest private, independent blender of motor oils and industrial lubricants. The family-owned company, run by the Barkett family, also held the naming rights to Tampa’s Amalie Arena from 2014 to 2025 and sponsors NHRA drag racing.

Amalie Logo Meaning and History

The Amalie logo is a bold, italicized “AMALIE” wordmark, typically rendered in racing red — a color that evokes speed, engines, and motorsport. The brand’s heritage slogan, “Better than it has to be… Since 1903,” underscores more than a century of lubricant engineering, including being the first company to sell multi-grade motor oil with Imperial 10W-30 in 1953.
