About Aprilia
Aprilia is an Italian motorcycle and scooter manufacturer based in Noale, Italy, founded in 1945 by Cavaliere Alberto Beggio as a small bicycle factory. Beggio named the company after the pre-war Lancia Aprilia automobile he admired — a name drawn from the Latin “Venus Aprilia,” evoking beauty and renewal. His son Ivano Beggio took over in 1968 and steered toward motorcycles, building the first mopeds — the Colibrì, Daniela, and Packi — then the Scarabeo motocross bike in 1970. Aprilia became one of the most successful names in motorcycle racing, winning its first 125cc world championship in 1992 with Alessandro Gramigni and later carrying legends like Valentino Rossi, Max Biaggi, and Jorge Lorenzo. Acquired by the Piaggio Group in 2004, it has amassed 54 world racing titles across five categories.
Aprilia Logo Meaning and History
The Aprilia logo is a distinctive italic wordmark with a sweeping, stylized lowercase “a” — a mark that looks fast even standing still. The slanted lettering captures the lean and speed of motorcycle racing, while the flowing script of the “a” gives the brand an unmistakably Italian sense of style.
