About the Atomic Logo

About Atomic

Atomic (Atomic Austria GmbH) is an Austrian manufacturer of ski equipment headquartered in Altenmarkt im Pongau, Austria. It was founded in 1955 by Alois Rohrmoser, who handcrafted his first skis from locally sourced wood, producing just 40 pairs a year. Production grew rapidly — reaching 72,000 pairs by 1969 — and Atomic became a dominant force in alpine racing, with legends like Olga Pall, Annemarie Moser-Pröll, Hermann Maier, Marcel Hirscher, and Mikaela Shiffrin winning on Atomic skis. In 1989 Atomic became the first one-stop supplier of skis, bindings, boots, and poles, and in 1994 it was acquired by Finland’s Amer Sports Group.

Atomic Logo Meaning and History

The Atomic logo is a bold, lowercase wordmark — typically rendered in red — whose confident simplicity mirrors the brand’s skiing-first ethos. The name evokes power and energy, fitting for a brand built on speed and precision in the Austrian Alps, where every product is still designed, tested, and validated.

Atomic Logo Evolution

  • 1955 — The original Atomic wordmark is created in Wagrain, Austria.
  • 1980s — Branding is refined during the racing glory years, including Bill Johnson’s 1984 Olympic gold on the Red Sled.
  • 1994 — The identity is modernized under Amer Sports ownership.
  • Present — The clean lowercase red wordmark is used across skis, boots, bindings, and apparel worldwide.

Atomic Logo Colors and Font

Atomic red — a strong, energetic red — is the brand’s signature, usually paired with white or black in a bold, italic-leaning sans-serif wordmark. Whether you need an atomic logo png with a transparent background or an atomic logo svg vector for crisp scaling, the simple wordmark stays legible at any size.
